Alright, to start things off, my name is Bryant. I'm the chief editor for AeroXperience, a Windows Enthusiast blog hosted with Contrast for a number of years.

Contrast has withstood numerous slashdottings (linkbacks by one of the largest sites on the web, Slashdot) as well as high traffic during a number of our exclusive stories. We've even withstood traffic resulting from an Associated Press linkback, which surprised me since Contrast is a pretty small operation.

Granted, we've had minor problems here and there (who doesn't?), but any issues I had were nothing like the issues I've had with 1and1. I still have an account with 1and1, though I'm considering closing it in the near term as a result of horrendous service with them. My service with Contrast, on the other hand, has been much better in comparison.

We're a pretty big site. The fact that we're up and running smoothly through heavy traffic means something. To those who had bad experiences, I feel for your pain (mostly because I've been there with larger hosts); bad experiences happen, so find the host which is right for you. Contrast is perfect for us.
